Bakery:
Production unit for multimedia
projects by visual artists.
ArtBakery is building up a small production and post-production unit for multimedia
projects by visual artists.

The Bakery is conceived of as a multimedia production and post-production unit , at the service of visual artists from Central African sub region.
Preliminary words: the rationale
Multimedia is slowly paving its way in Africa, shaping the audio visual landscape
and as well as the way we see today's world. But the production tools are
still out of reach for the majority of artists, their wish to try out new
media, notwithstanding. Their hopes here are hung over a hypothetic help that
may change their dreams into realities.
The Bakery would like to assist visual artists from the Central African sub
region, with the equipment that will help transform their multi media dreams
into tangible works .
Aims and goals:
-familiarise visual artists with new media.
-reduce the costs of production and post-production of works multi media works
by visual artists.
-give visual artists, powerful tools for the creation of multi media art projects.
-encourage the growth of a contemporary production that uses new media.
-make new media available to contemporary artists from the sub region.
-feed the discourses on new forms of expression with factual elements.
The project:
The Bakery is a multi media studio that will make the equipment available
for visual artists to venture into the field of media related art works. Technical
support as well as counselling will also be provided. Artists present their
projects and the most interesting are given support through provision of space,
time and technical help to develop their ideas/works. Whenever necessary,
a technician will be hired to work with the artists. Since the Bakery is hosted
by ArtBakery, it is hoped that there will be increased interaction with the
numerous artists that take part in the Portfolio
